Your Glastonbury Check List!

Posted on Friday, June 16, 2023

It’s nearly upon us… GLASTONBURY! Are you packed and ready? Here are a few hints and tips for the weekend as you pack and re-pack for the best working week of the summer…

  • Tickets if travelling by public transport.
  • A print off of the DCSS PAAM Info pack (includes arrival instructions, onsite contacts etc.)
  • Plenty of underwear/socks, spares for every eventuality
  • Clothes for when you’re off shift!
  • Warmer clothes for the evenings and waterproofs
  • Wellies! Glastonbury is known to have a spot of rain every now and then.
  • Comfortable, sensible shoes for when on shift (don’t even think about working in flipflops)
  • Ear plugs (in case you have trouble sleeping, festivals can be noisy)
  • Mobile phone and charging packs. There will be charging points available, but DC will not be responsible for items left unattended.
  • Any medication you require. If you require support, i.e., a cool place to store this, please contact the office ahead of time.
  • A reusable water bottle to refill using the free water taps onsite.
  • Plates and cutlery (there’s a washing up station available)
  • A tent and all camping equipment!
  • Sleeping bag/bedding – despite how warm it is during the day the temperatures drop at night.
  • Sun cream, sun hat, sunglasses
  • Extra toilet roll – this is available in the DC compound toilets but it’s always best to be over-prepared.
  • Toiletries
  • Contraceptives
  • Glasses/contact lenses and solution where applicable
  • Cash and card (best to have both)
  • A work hard, play hard attitude!

We strongly recommend that you re-read through the information pack available to on DCSS PAAM, and if you have any queries, get in contact with the office now! Please also make sure to take note of the briefing times and bear in mind that the earlier you aim to arrive on Monday, the more space there will be for you to scope out your camping spot.

Remember, it’s always a good idea to bring sensible snacks, and small gas cookers are permitted at below knee-height. No open fires allowed.

Let’s go!!!

I wanted to write personally to say a huge thank you to you and your brilliant team for all your hard work to enable to deliver, in such a short space of time, a wonderful Royal Windsor Horse Show.

When we started the planning, we honestly had no idea whether we could or could not run and had so many changes it must have made it almost impossible for your team – however as always they adapted and overcame the many hurdles that we presented, with a smile and a complete can do attitude and many people are saying that it was one of the best show’s that they have ever been to.

Everybody I have spoken to has said how fantastic the cleaning was and that the loos were immaculate, and the showground looked as good on the last day as it did on the first day – which is exactly what any organiser strives to achieve. Nothing was ever too much trouble and everything was delivered with a smile. Your cleaners were tremendous once again. Even with the date change and the added bonus (!) of COVID everything was delivered on time.
