As anyone who has ever worked in the industry knows, recruitment is no easy feat. Personal plans can change so frequently that filling a team of ten, let alone a team of fifty or more is a daunting task. This is why it is particularly disappointing when we find ourselves suddenly short-staffed at the last minute when someone has an appointment or prior engagement they forgot about, or worse, didn’t think to mention.
Circumstances may suddenly change, and event work may not be your primary job, but event work is our primary job here at DC Site Services and as such we ask that you bear in mind the following when applying…
- It may be an event or festival you’re looking forward to entering when off-shift, but it’s still employment and we’re there to do a job. You need to be available for ALL dates published. The dates are not a suggestion, they are the contracted hours for the role.
- When you accept a position without checking your availability for all days, you are potentially taking work away from other applicants who WERE available. It may not be a jolly for some but a much-needed source of income.
- Accreditation! Depending on the event this can be extremely strict, and if we have people cancel, this can often mean that we do not have the opportunity to offer the position to another person because accreditation is closed.
That is not to say you cannot inquire ahead of time. We’re more than happy for you to contact us with your availability BEFORE applying. It may be that we have a shift that works around your availability perfectly, or it might be a no, we merely appreciate the thoughtfulness of contacting us ahead of applying. We respect your time and hard work, we want to say thank you to those who appreciate ours in return.
Let’s have a cracking June!
