Application Guidelines - Your Profile “Please check over your application carefully”
Please check all details carefully, and select one of the buttons at the bottom of the page to either edit your details or confirm that all information is correct.
Application Guidelines - Select Events
Select the events you wish to apply for, if events with clashing dates are selected you will be informed and asked to amend your selection.
Application Guidelines - Deposit Payment
Depending on the event/s you apply for you may need to send a deposit to secure your place. Any deposit required needs to be paid after you have applied. We do not confirm any positions until we have received your application and your deposit has cleared.
You only need to pay 1 deposit per year i.e. 1 deposit covers all festivals you would like to work or volunteer at.
You can pay your deposit via the following means:
Online via a major debit or credit card: Visa, Visa Delta, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Switch/Maestro, Solo, American Express.
By post: Cheque or Postal Order
You can find further details about paying your deposit within your PAAM user account (created when applying online), or PDF application form (for applications sent via post/fax/email).
Paying a deposit does not mean your position is confirmed for an event, you will receive further confirmation if you are offered a position.
Deposits are returned in October, part or all of your deposit may be withheld if you:
- Do not complete the shifts allocated to you.
- Loose any equipment allocated to you.
- Miss your on-site briefing.
- Do not turn up at all and do not notify us at least 7 calendar days prior to the volunteer arrival date of the event.
- Breach the Terms & Conditions.
- Breach the Code of Conduct.
If you have paid a deposit and do not gain a position (for any reason other than failing a PNC check) at any of the events you have applied for which require a deposit to be paid, your deposit will be refunded ASAP.
If you do not gain a position due to failing a PNC check you deposit will be refunded in October.
If you have paid a deposit, have been confirmed for a position, and cancel your position at least 7 calendar days prior to the arrival date of the event — your deposit will be returned in October.
We refund deposits for cancelled positions prior to October only in extreme circumstances — a holiday or exam doesn't count as extreme.
Please note: all online payments are sent securely via PAAM´s merchant system. The bank charges us 2% GBP on each deposit paid, thus when returning deposits paid online we are required to deduct 2% rounded up to the nearest GBP.
Application Guidelines - Application Completed
Your application is now complete, although can be amended at any time by logging into your PAAM account.
Once you have created a user account with our application system (PAAM), added all personal details, and if required paid your deposit (if you have included the Carling Weekend: Reading or Leeds Festival, or Glastonbury Festival within your application) – the status for each event within PAAM will change to application received.
Application received does not mean you have successfully gained a position at a festival or event!
Application Guidelines - So what happens next?
We confirm positions at events throughout the season, Glastonbury Staff positions and CAT Volunteering positions are confirmed first. All other festival and event positions are confirmed as soon as possible.
When a position is confirmed the status for the position within PAAM will change to application confirmed.
Please do not repeatedly contact us asking when positions will be confirmed, we understand many of you will want to make summer plans and would therefore prefer confirmation of your position straight away. Due to the nature of live events – dates are altered, events are cancelled, and staffing requirements change – often at the last minute. So sometimes we can’t confirm positions until 3-4 weeks prior to a festival or event. We always confirm positions as early as possible.
You can log into your PAAM account at any time to view the status of all festivals and events you have applied to.
Generally if you apply early and pay your deposit you’re likely to gain a position. The only problem may be a PNC check failure.
We are able to confirm Reading & Leeds Festival CAT Volunteer positions earlier than staff positions as the number of volunteers required is confirmed before the number of staff required.
2 final tips:
We receive thousands of applications each year – those who apply to work on the smaller shows as well as the larger ones are more likely to gain the positions they're after at the larger more popular events.
DO NOT apply for positions which you can't work, those who apply for positions and cancel at the last minute, or don't turn up, are blacklisted.
